abandoned-playgrounds:

This is the Mutsuura Ammo Factory used by Japan during World War II. A military bunker located in the Kanagawa Prefecture in the Kanto Region of Japan. Carved out through muddy tunnels this is truly a relic, found only by a whole that cut down into the ground and led into tunnels filled with Mukade, a large centipede.

For now it is mostly left alone except for visits from the wandering adventurer.

archivingscience:

Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926) was a Spanish Catalan architect and a perfect example of art and science working harmoniously as one. His work is strongly characterized by  the  use of catenary archways, a physical phenomenon which requires no additional support system to be completely stable. He was also inspired greatly by nature and biological structures, thus causing his buildings to feel organic and almost alive.

Award Winning Garden Design By Ben Hoyle

I’M SCREAMING THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL

That sunken seating? *wets pants*
So incredibly gorgeous. I would love to curl up there and read.

Imagine curling up in that thing and watching the stars

The existence of this thing makes the world an ever-so-slightly more beautiful place.

My only nitpick is that there better be chlorine in that water because otherwise that thing is a mosquito nest

I visited Japan in November 2011 for the exclusive purpose of urban exploration on Hashima Island. The island, completely abandoned since 1974, sits in the southwest coast of Japan in the East China Sea. Only a few people have been able to access the island for the purposes of urban exploration photography. We were fortunate to be the only people to ever get 8 hours of uninterrupted access to the island.

“Hashima Island, commonly called Gunkanjima or Gunkanshima (軍艦島; meaning Battleship Island), is one among 505 uninhabited islands in the Nagasaki Prefecture about 15 kilometers from Nagasaki itself.

The island was populated from 1887 to 1974 as a coal mining facility. The island’s most notable features are the abandoned concrete buildings and the sea wall surrounding it.” ~wikipedia
